Being Creative

Until recently, I would never have said I was artistic. I cannot draw, paint or any of the traditional arts. But since 2010 when I discovered Tumblr, that changed. I downloaded GIMP to make a tiny Dumbledore gif one day and discovered that the clickedyclick of a mouse made me an artist. I became obsessed with typography, creating my own and sharing it tumblr - screaming a little with every like and reblog it got. Even now, three years later when I hardly use Tumblr anymore, the adoration for digital art hasn't weaned.
The other night when working on a super secret project (which I will blog about in one month I swear) I used my love of digital art to create a physical project. A notecard. Stacks of notecards in fact.

For decorating your desk, or sending a quick memo - I love them! I've got a massive stack of thirty on my desk each featuring different quotes. They brighten up my piles of dissertation books better than boring old post it notes.

Anyway, I'm now selling them :) At the moment I have ones avaliable on my etsy shop that feature quotes from The Perks of Being a Wallflower, Harry Potter, The Lizzie Bennet Diaries and The Fault in Our Stars.

More are to be added over the next couple of days. They are £4.00 for a stack of Twelve!

The problem of male skincare

From my experience (as a girlfriend, best friend, and stepsister) the average man does not care one iota about their skincare. This annoys me. I'm not sure if I'm really allowed to let it annoy me, but It does anyway.

My boyfriends cuticles and nail beds are ripped to shreds. This annoys him, so he rips at them to make them "go away", which in the long run makes them worse and it all becomes a very vicious circle. I bought him hand cream, on his request no less, which I think he has used all of one time. He's religious about washing his face with a generic clean and clear wash in the shower, because of bad teenage acne, but he laughs in my face when I suggest using other skincare products to target other areas, such as blackheads or shine control.

Don't get me wrong, I adore him the way he is - his funny little nail skin ripping quirk and all, but I wish there was some way I could get him to care about his skincare just a little bit more. And not just him either - one of my best male friends scoffed at me the other day when I suggested an after shave balm to soothe his skin.

So my question to you is, do the men in your life care about their skincare? Is there a way to gently guide them towards doing so?

Springtime is upon us!

Spring is here! I think. You can never be too sure in Plymouth. Two days ago we had hailstones the size of gobstoppers, yesterday it was sunny and warm. I'm hoping the latter sticks around - Plymouth is lovely in the sunshine and I'm frankly fed up of having to wear my hood up everywhere I go.
The arrival of spring means that I finally get to move my heavier, winter make-up back into the depth of my drawers and replace it with light, bright, colourful alternatives. And while the pastels of spring are fun, my favourite part is simply changing my winter caudalie moisturiser to my light simple one. The simple things in life, eh?

What's your favourite beauty change of spring?
